First of all, I want to thank hashnode for giving us the freedom to add our own hashtags to our articles. I think it's great because it can help you set yourself apart from others when writing about similar topics.

I mention in my bio that I am a mom first and foremost. I am very honest when it comes to parenting when I am approached by soon-to-be parents. Parenting is the hardest thing I have ever had to do. Every situation is a test and you are tested at every opportunity. There is no booklet to follow, you can read hundreds of parenting books but nothing will ever truly prepare you for it. You gotta think on your feet most of the time and it's exhausting. There are days that I can't connect with my kids even for one minute. There are times when I sit and cry with them because I have no idea what to do.

Of course that the joy that comes with seeing your kids grow and learn is incomparable. When they start to get their own personality and seeing them thrive makes it all ok.

I definitely feel like this generation we have a more open mind about parenting than back in the day. I see that my parents are scarred from the way my grandparent's used to discipline them. I definitely am trying to break those vicious cycles with my kids. I want to be more empathetic and understanding toward them. I want to be there when things get tough for them and try to guide them, even when I feel like I can't.

The hashtag I have been using is #momcoder because I want to show myself what I can accomplish for me while raising kids. That being a mom is great but I am still much more than that too! That even through all the hardships of being a parent I am still grateful for the opportunity. That parents are resilient and we will do everything and anything for our children.

This is my view as I parent and I try to code hahaha!
